Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why a bike festival?
A: There is no doubt our kids can
accomplish anything! The bike festival is an effort to empower kids to make
a difference in helping other kids and the environment. The Bike
Parade gives families something they can do together that is
affordable! Organizations and vendors will
have tents to visit after you ride.
Q: Is there a cost to participate?
A: Yes, there is a registration fee of $5 to help keep the event
safe for all the participants.
Q: How will the funds raised be used?
A: All participants are encouraged to seek donors/ sponsors to help
other kids in the community and globally. Dollars raised will help
feed hungry kids through local food pantries
VEAP,
Second Harvest, and fight hunger globally through
Feed My Starving
Children.
Q: Will we attempt to break a world
record?
A: Not this year. Last year we fell short of the 2152 riders
and wanted to offer a community family event this year. Get your friends
signed up to fight hunger!
Q: Who can ride? A: The whole family! We welcome handicapped riders as well. See the Event tab for more information.
Q: Can children
ride?
A: Yes, we hope everyone who is able will ride. Bikes with training
wheels and bikes with trailers and burleys will be allowed this
year. The festival route will
take us around Lake Cornelia. There will be limited parking at Rosland Park (the community pool lots) at 66th street
and Valley View just west of
France Ave. If possible ride your bikes rather than drive as parking
will be tight.
